Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is a genuine WWII issue Aluminum Model 1931 Canteen that is marked EF43 at the neck and comes complete with bakelite screw cap. This canteen was carefully designed by punching and painting to represent a captured SS piece with a skull and symbol to the front. On the reverse is the date 1946 long with USFA which stands for US Forces, Austria & Vienna which was the occupation force in Austria after the fall of the Third Reich.The reverse also features a painted insignia of a red and white shield with blue sword and laurels for the Headquarters U.S. Forces, Austria & Vienna. Acquired from a veterans estate this is a genuine piece of occupational trench art from the days just after the fall of AH's empire. We've never seen anything quite like it!
